With the return of warm (hot!) weather, we’re returning our much-loved Treehugger’s Club to the woods, with an easy hike in Chickering Bog* in Calais.
Location: Chickering Bog in Calais, VT.
Cost: Free
Difficulty: 2 mile trail with little to no incline. Not explicitly wheelchair accessible.
Length: 2 mile trail.
Bring: Backpack, water, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, waterproof layer (if you have it), sunglasses (if you want).
Wear: Light shirt (if the weather is above 65), non-restricting shorts or hiking pants, sun hat (if you want), low or high-top hiking boots/shoes. Avoid cotton if you can.
RBCC Provides: First aid kit.
*Actually a fen. Yes, there’s a difference. Ask your local botanist, ecologist, or forest warden for the explanation, and pack a snack, it might be a while!
