As a genderfluid AMAB who buried and suppressed this sense of gender identity at the age of 11 (in the 1970s when such concepts had no names), and so didn't 'come out' and start exploring gender identity and expression until the age of 54, Freesia's life was changed in far broader and deeper ways than they ever imagined, and connecting with a queer community was at the heart of that change. Now retired from a career in public service, Freesia serves as Treasurer and Board Member at RBCC to help bring the same kind of affirmation to everyone in the queer community.
